French Proverb

Bonne renommée vaut mieux que ceinture dorée.
"A good name is better than riches."

  1. I like the comment better in the French although I wouldn't have understood it from my Freshman High School French class without the translation. And I like the 1910 Franc coin better than the Euros.

Without the translation, I would have thought the saying was: "It is better to renominate an old mewer than to tie up your dory."

Maybe I need to get out my old French English dictionary.

  2. Isn't that the truth! Perhaps a few famous people should keep that in mind!!
